Curatorial Statement

Fishy-Oneness is a collaborative virtual gallery exhibition started by 8 talented SCA students.
The theme of our exhibition is a flawed perception, featuring the art of disguises, masks and characters. The dungeon site is a perfect environment to display the works of these artists due to the historical nature and the mysterious ambience.

The exhibition is taking place in the main corridor of the dungeons. It was chosen because it clearly had the essence of a fishy-oneness; it's open, spacious and is easily accessible. The dark and dull walls will be transformed into clean white walls. The content of the artists' works are quite varied, each relating to our singular theme.

Fishy-Oneness galleries is a gallery that doesn't take itself too seriously but enjoys the fun and mystery behind each character. May the Oneness be with you.

Emily Morris
Emily Morris (second year, painting studio) is my artist of choice. She was chosen for her unique painting style that fits with the idea of a strange perception.
Her recent works consist of watercolour and acrylic based paintings, often working with ambiguous narrative subject matters. The paintings are done on a range of different papers and canvases allowing room to experiment with different levels of absorbency.
Often subjects are selected without much premeditation, allowing the works to develop its meaning through the application of paint. Some are also influenced by Alfred Hitchcock films and abstract works done by various artists (such as the Bathroom series 1963 by Brett Whitely).
